Robert Khachatryan Joins the E-commerce Coffee Break Podcast to Discuss the Challenges of Shipping Bulky Goods

August 12, 2025

Robert Khachatryan, CEO of Freight Right Global Logistics, was the featured guest on a recent episode of the E-commerce Coffee Break podcast, hosted by Claus Lauter. The conversation explored the complexities, hidden costs, and opportunities involved in shipping large, heavy, and high-value products both domestically and internationally.
Khachatryan, who founded Freight Right in 2008 and has grown it into a leader in global logistics for oversized items, shared practical insights for brands looking to expand their reach without falling into costly traps.

Key highlights from the episode:

Avoiding the “Free Shipping” Trap. Many brands underestimate the true cost of shipping bulky items, leading to significant profit loss when flat or free shipping is offered without accurate calculations.

Freight vs. Parcel. Unlike parcel shipping, large-item shipments require freight handling, which is more complex and can quickly become expensive if miscalculated.

Navigating Hidden Costs. Duties, VAT, and customs classifications can be costly and complicated, especially when multiple product categories are involved.

Global Expansion Without Local Presence. Freight Right’s technology integrates directly with a brand’s shopping cart, providing instant shipping, duties, and tax calculations for over 45 countries, enabling sales without establishing a physical presence abroad.

Lowering the Barrier to Entry. For most brands, Freight Right’s solution has no upfront cost, with fees tied to the actual logistics and customs services provided.

“Many brands avoid selling internationally because of the complexities and risks,” Khachatryan said. “Our goal is to make global expansion accessible and profitable for companies of all sizes.”
